3 Months old today

Can't believe Miss Audrey is 3 months old! I know, every month we say that. It seems like so long ago that she was born yet it also seems that she's still so new. We had a check up today with Dr. Miller and she was pleased with Audrey's growth although Mommy and Daddy wish she was a bit bigger. At this point babies are supposed to gain 1/2 an ounce to 1 ounce per day and Audrey's just barely gained 1/2 an ounce per day since her 2 month check-up. She weighed 10 lbs. 2 ounces and was 23 1/4 inches long. She's still in the 5th percentile for weight and 25th percentile for length. We don't think she looks scrawny, she's just a peanut. She's still sleeping good at night and is very alert during her awake times. We're thankful she's healthy and still gaining. Maybe once we start cereal at 4 months she'll start packing on the pounds. :0)

Wow!

I found these PJ's on the clearance rack at Old Navy recently and didn't realize just how bright they were until I put them on Audrey tonight. They're cute but wow! Hope she can sleep while wearing these wild pajamas. I don't think she's too sure about them either from the look on her face in the picture. :0)

NO MORE DIAPERS

We are delighted to announce that Anna is no longer in diapers and is wearing big girl panties. We were beginning to wonder if this would ever happen! Last week mommy decided that Anna was big enough to start going like a big girl after she started hiding in the closet to do her "business". She was obviously aware of what she was doing so after a few chats and swats, Anna decided that she wanted to be a big girl. Yea for Anna!! Below she's sporting her new panties of which she's so proud of. :0)

Stormy Weather

Last Friday night we found ourselves seeking shelter in the closet under the stairs for about 30 minutes (thankfully that's where we keep the toys!). The tornado sirens went off and the weather forecasters were telling everyone in our viewing area to seek shelter as they were seeing rotation in the clouds although nothing had touched down yet. The winds were blowing at 60-70 mph, hurricane force, and the rain was coming down so hard we couldn't see the neighbors' houses across the street. So, while mommy and the girls were obeying the weather forecaster, daddy was taking pictures and video. We got 3 and 1/2 inches of rain in about an hour.

Locust Trees

These are the trees right behind our house and while they have pretty white flowers on them, they are awful for those with allergies like mommy and Anna. We've had lots of congestion and coughing for a week now. We're actually wondering if we don't have a cold as well because daddy is starting to have the same symptoms. Not fun for any of us!

Memorial Day weekend

This past weekend we were able to do some fun things as a family although we were also reminded that things don't always go as planned when you have two little ones. We took Anna fishing on Sunday afternoon and planned to have a picnic there as well. There were lots of people around the pond so Anna was quite distracted and Audrey got fussy so we decided to come home and have our picnic in our own back yard. We also went to the State Park that's just a few minutes away thinking we'd walk a trail and enjoy being outside. As you can see, Audrey was asleep in the carrier within 2 minutes but Anna started complaining before we got too far so we then decided to just let her burn energy on the playground. She loved the twirly slide once she got up the courage to try it out. It was nice having daddy home an extra day and we had a good weekend spent together as a family even though things didn't go as planned. You can't have little ones and not be flexible! :0)

Daddy's Arms

Audrey has a fussy time every evening in between the last two feedings. It's getting much better than it was but she's always been comfy during that time in Daddy's arms. It also gives mommy a break which is wonderful!!

Just a swingin'

Anna would stay outside on the swing/glider all day if we let her. She can get it going all by herself and then hollers for us to come see. :0) Audrey does great in the swing although it usually puts her to sleep. This is quite helpful some nights when she's wide awake after the last feeding.

Share the Love

I'll be sure to show them these pictures in 3-4 years when they're trying to hurt each other. :0) Anna loves to be right beside Audrey wherever she is and still cries when we put Audrey down for a nap. It won't be long until Audrey starts getting into Anna's stuff and Anna will be wanting us to put her down for a nap. :0)

2 Month Check-up

On Monday we took Audrey to the dr. for her 2 month check-up. Dr. Miller said she looked very healthy and was pleased with her growth which has been consistent as far as percentiles. She weighed 9 lbs. 6 oz. (5-10 percentile) and was 22 1/2 inches long (25-50 percentile). She's the same length Anna was at 2 months but 2 pounds lighter. I had guessed she was at least 10 pounds but mommy was wrong while daddy guessed her to be around 9 pounds and was right. She's doing really well on her tummy, tolerates it pretty well and is starting to fuss when we leave the room. She probably doesn't know how to act when it gets quiet. :0) I hope to post more pics soon. She got 4 shots at her check-up so the last few days have been full of lots of fussing and not very good naps.

Mommy's Family

We were blessed to spend time with my Grandparents last week while Michael was traveling. Below are a few 4 generation pictures. I'm so glad my Grandparents were able to meet Audrey. The grandkids...what a gang! :0)

Daddy's Girls

I think Audrey is supposed to be the one napping but o'well. :0) She likes to lay on daddy's chest and watch the ceiling fan. At least she gives daddy the chance to catch some "shut-eye". Anna's quite the fishergirl. :0) She fished for the first time tonight at our friends' pond and she did great! Daddy's got his wish...his oldest girl is into fishing, hopefully the youngest will be too and they can all have fun together while mommy reads a book. :)

Lovin' the floor gym

Baby blues

The girls both have mommy's blue eyes and hair so far. I think they look a lot alike in the two pictures below. Audrey will be two months old tomorrow - Wow! Anna at 2 months Audrey at 2 months (almost)

Audrey's Dedication

On Sunday we dedicated Audrey to the Lord. What an awesome way to celebrate Mother's Day and what an awesome gift for a mother to have her children give their life to Christ! That is Michael and I's greatest prayer. My mom made her beautiful gown, Anna wore it too as will all our of children (maybe even a boy if we have one) and my Grandma gave us the bonnet. I couldn't pick which pictures to post so I just posted lots. :0)

Backyard fun

Anna has had so much fun playing on her new swing set. She LOVES the glider - will swing for 30 minutes+ on it and mommy and daddy love it too because she can get on and off all by herself and keep it going. She's such a big girl!! Michael spent about 12 hours last weekend putting it together and still has around 2 hours left to finish it. Anna will be right there with him "helping". :0) This is how it started... This is how it ended...

Cara & Chase

My good friend Cara and her little boy, Chase, came to visit us last week and we had so much fun. It was great to catch up and spend time together. Cara has been my friend from birth practically with us both being raised in the same church. We spent lots of time together playing as little girls and then were together often in youth group and 4-H activities once we got older. I'm so glad we still keep in touch. Thanks for coming to visit us Cara and Chase!!

Happy Girls

Daddy and Uncle Nate planted a small garden outside of our kitchen window and Anna has had so much fun watering it and our flowers on the porch. We've learned that we need to put her rain boots on her though when she's helping as her feet always seem to end up wet. :0) Audrey really enjoys playing in the floor gym, especially looking at herself in the mirror. It's so cute to see her smiling at herself and listening to her "talk". Of course we're loving the smiles she's giving us as well.

New Hairdo

Michael gave Audrey a bath tonight after yet another explosive diaper (the thrush medicine gives her diarrhea- LOVELY!) and then he quickly dried her hair and this is how it stayed. It's the new Mohawk style for infants. :0)

7 weeks old

We've been saying all along that Audrey looks so much like Anna but after looking at these pictures of both girls at 7 weeks, we've kinda changed our minds. They definitely have similar features but they also look different. Their noses look alike but their hair and hairlines are different in the pictures as well as their eyes. Anna had a much longer face and higher forehead than Audrey. Anna's face also looks thinner. A lot of it could be due to differences in lighting and positioning of the girls when the pictures were taken but I tried to get them as close as possible. What are your thoughts?
